good job ppl lets keep up with the blogging momentum!
anw in case anyone didnt know i was in san jose the past week. yes san jose home to google inc.
but anw there is no reason for anyone to know cos i didnt tell anyone. anyone in spore at least.
ok so the first day i visited santana row which is this shopping promenade v beautiful
next day: stanford. marvelous campus. they have this thing called narnia but aynie and i drove and drove and cldnt find it. maybe it only magically appears randomly
anyway the campus is so big we took an hour to find parking.
first we parked at the nearest lot and asked for directions to parking services. we followed the directions and parked but cldnt find the building. so we walked and met this friendly old man who told us it was on the other street. and we crossed to the nearest building on the other street which was NOT parking services but from which we managed to obtain a campus map whereupon i realised the campus was about 4 miles by 4 miles. and then we realised where we originally parked was right in front of parking services well done.
anw stanford ppl are decent looking la i didnt see any freaks of nature
and the bookstore is WOW. loved it. felt like borders in there
on the way to the bookstore we passed a sit-in for worker justice and im v happy cos the banner was in spanish and i managed to decipher it
its pretty tiring to walk all over campus though
so wed was uc berkeley/san fran day! which was damn fun cos i had another friend to bring me ard. berkeley's nice too. but the flags were flying at half-mast cos of the vtech incident. anw we went up to the clock tower and my friend stared at the bells and i asked what he was thinking and he said he was wondering if the bells fell would they hit him? -_- anw we were v lucky that day cos we didnt have to pay for parking at all which is like near to impossible in sf. even when we exceeded our parking times we weren't ticketed. apparently the police go ard every 2 hrs and mark wheels with white chalk so some ppl just return before the 2 hr time limit and move the car a little so the chalk gets rubbed off and then park in the same spot again.
thur we went to the winchester mystery house built by this little old lady who inherited a fortune upon her husbands death and spent the rest of her life building this insanely puzzling house with doors that lead to nowhere or that open to blank walls. and by little i mean it literally cos she was 4' 11" and ppl like me have to stoop through some of the house
meet the robinsons is a cool show!
fri was google day. google is fantabulous i think its the best place to work in the world. they actually have this artificial sand thing where u can play beach volleyball, nintendo, playstation, massage chairs and masseurs, laundry service and 9 cafes. and by cafes i mean full-fledged buffets with the widest selection of drinks and snacks i have ever seen in a work building. apart from the freshly cooked food la of cos. and the supervisors dont keep track of when employees come in/sign out so its pretty much based on trust which is :) the whole atmosphere is just super informal and relaxing
i have loads of pictures but the cam's with aynie now she's gg to disneyland tmr and she koped it to record her michaeljacksonesque fantasies
oh and yes on my trip to pepperdine uni a few weeks back i dropped it on the sand -_-
now i cant zoom. me and technology just dont click la. luckily i have warranty

Hi ppl, finally managed to remember my password!
Anyway, good luck to everybody for interviews and everything. I haven't started on my personal essay so good luck to me too. (:
Speaking of interviews, that day NTU conned me into going on a 1hr 40 min ride to the sch for an 'interview'. After getting lost in the humongous school and wasting $7 of cab fare, I realised my interview was some prof talking to me for antoher hour about why I should choose NTU over NUS. Then they have this list where they rank everybody by their grades and he said to me congratulations, cause I am no.49 on their list. -_- Okay everything doesn't really make sense. Very surreal to me also can't believe I was cheated of like five hours of my life >:/
Anyway, can we jsut go on a cruise or smth! It'll be so much easier to plan and likely to be realised. (: Then we can just eat and go karaoke and err swim or sleep in the room. Actually I don't really know what people do on cruises besides have sex. Hmmm.
I want to go Bangkok leh! But abit unsafe now. And everything is not as cheap anymore cause all the shop owners got smart and decided to cut throat the tourists instead of each other. Sigh!!
Okay its one am. I going to buy macdonalds now. Please pray that I don't get kidnapped while crossing the road. Bye!

Hello everybody guess what I am doing?
I am at zuji.com looking for plane tickets to HONG KONG! Yea I figured price would be a very IMPORTANT deciding factor as to where we will eventually go.
Also Ling and Ching are going to HongKong so if we can go at the same time as them it'll be quite fun rit?
Anyway I think NZ is out. I just found out it costs SGD 1380 per person... And that's like, the cheapest I think. Bloody HELL.
Okay cheapest airfare for HONGKONG on zuji.com:
2 adults
= SGD 560.00
Taxes and Surcharges
= SGD 188.00
Service Fees
= SGD 52.00
Total Price
= SGD 748.00
I put 2 people coz apparently some flights require a min. of 2 ppl flying tgt i dunno for what so that you will have company and not disturb other passengers by trying to be their friend maybe BUT ANYWAY. yeah. just divide by two? the Service Fee is for Zuji itself, so actually you should minus 52 den divide by 2 because the 52 is standard no matter how many people. hahaha.

I have a suggestion -
let's go to NZ for winter hols.
I have a friend there who can bring us around! He lives in Auckland.
But I need to check up ticket prices. I have a feeling they're not in the same range as the tickets to Bangkok...
Damn.
Okay anyway right! We need to decide REAL SOON WHERE WHERE WHERE we want to go... can we have like a vote on this post? each person ONE COMMENT. delete your own comments if you want to post new comments k.
Omg I sound like one of those bitches on sgspree. HEEHEE.
Okay so we haveeee...
1. Beijing/Shanghai
2. Taiwan
3. Hong Kong (eh i can speak canto! YESSS...)
4. Bangkok/ anywhere in Thailand (can i say smtg- it's dangerous!)
5. MALAYSIA TRULY ASIA
6. Australia?
7. NZ?
8. Cambodia/ Laos/ Nepal/ Burma/ Bhutan/ one of those poor countries with cheap everything and the promise of moral awakening
Okay if we cannot decide ah I will just go and travel on my own. Haha.
Random note: i'm listening to some final fantasy song and it is very saddening :( It is called Your Ex-Lover Is Dead. WOW EMO NOT EMO NOT! damn emo man.

Heh. This is like one of the funniest/cutest songs I've heard in a really long time...
http://profile.imeem.com/WFHU1x/music/Prdkotou/rockin_the_suburbs/
Let me tell yall what its like
Being male, middle class and white
Its a bitch, if you dont believe
Listen up to my new cd
Sham on
I got shit running through my brain
So intense that I cant explain
All alone in my white boy pain
Shake your booty while the band complains
Im rocking the suburbs
Just like michael jackson did
Im rocking the suburbs
Except that he was talented
Im rocking the suburbs
I take the checks and face the facts
That some producer with computers
Fixes all my shitty tracks
Im pissed off but Im too polite
When people break in the mcdonalds line
Mom and dad you made me so uptight
Im gonna cuss on the mic tonight
I dont know how much I can take
Girl give me something I can break
Im rocking the suburbs
Just like quiet riot did
Im rocking the suburbs
Except that they were talented
Im rocking the suburbs
I take the checks and face the facts
That some producer with computers
Fixes all my shitty tracks
In a haze these days
I pull up to the stoplight
I can feel that somethings not right
I can feel that someones blasting me
With hate and bass
Sending dirty vibes my way
Cause my great great great great grandad
Made someones great great great great grandaddy slaves
It wasnt my idea
It wasnt my idea
It never was my idea
I just drove to the store
For some preparation h
Yall dont know what its like
Being male, middle class and white
It gets me real pissed off and it makes me wanna say
Fuck
Just like jon bon jovi did
Im rocking the suburbs
Except that he was talented
Im rocking the suburbs
I take the checks and face the facts
That some producer with computers
Fixes all my shitty tracks these days
Im rocking the suburbs
Youd better look out because Im gonna say fuck

my self-proclaimed metrosexual feminist male hist professor
i think my hist prof is super funny
check out what he wrote
"As someone who has spent his entire life in academia (every fall since 1970, when I started nursery school at the "Humpty-Dumpty House" in Santa Barbara, age three, I have been either a student or a teacher in some sort of educational institution), I've never held a full-time job other than college instructor. I know how to prepare a good lecture. I know how to evaluate written work quickly. I know how to pretend to pay attention in department meetings."
he's pretty hot too seriously. but he's at his 4th wife now, unfortunately.
"I learned that a microwave, a coffee maker, and a fridge are really all you need. (I've bought three post-divorce microwaves and two nice Kenmore refrigerators). On my own post-divorce, months would pass and I would never touch a stove. Lean Cuisines can be bought in bulk at Costco -- word to the wise. After my second divorce, I lived on Rosarita refried beans, Uncle Ben's rice, Pace Picante sauce, Knudsen sour cream, and corn tortillas. (What one friend called "the vile concoction.") I figure each divorce was good for some significant weight loss."
HE IS NOT FAT AT ALL.
"What else do I know that's useful? I know how to train for and run marathons. I know how to start a weight-lifting program. I could probably teach an introductory Pilates mat class, or a spinning class. I know how to pick the right pair of running shoes. Important skills for survival? Uh, no."
"I know that broken hearts heal and that new dishes can be bought over and over again. I know that dollar for dollar, it's hard to beat Sears brand appliances."
haha
okay before i start cnp-ing his entire post pls check him out here http://hugoboy.typepad.com/ and here http://hugoschwyzer.net/.
some search terms that got ppl to his blog (in italics) + his comments on them

As some of you may or may not know most probably not know but anyway I have been involved in some cultural exchange with the foreign NUS MBA students. And ONE OF THE KOREANS KNOWS WON BIN.
HELLO I REPEAT ONE OF THE KOREANS KNOWS WON BIN.
PERSONALLY.

okay la only once. because won bin is really his brother's friend, not his friend. BUT OMG. THAT IS GOOD ENOUGH.
And the other korean right, won bin is under his company!!! Meaning, if he wanted to see won bin, he can call the other department and arrange for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HELLO CAN WE ALL GO TO KOREA NOW I WILL GET THEIR NAMECARDS AND WE CAN CALL THESE USEFUL FRIENDS UP. haha they are only my friends for now. the other korean guy who does not have a brother that knows won bin is actually quite creepy and keeps trying to ask the girls to go clubbing with him i am very afraid.

why globalisation is good?
hello friends
thought this article was interesting, since we hv always been hearing how shitty globalisation is to the poor, and how it marginalises the poor and how globalisation is transnationalism blah blah. actually that's mostly what i heard cos my gp teacher felt that way. and i can't really remember now. i just don't like the image of a child freezing to death. while paris hilton wears mini skirts during winter with a fur coat to party.
why globalisation is good
just for a read pretty general. doesn't really dui zhuang or oppose directly what we've been reading. hahah found it cos it was on the mckinsey website. i'm working at mckinsey & co btw. good money heavenly pantry.

Hey ya'll.
I broke up with the bf today. Like a few hours ago actually. Eh. Dunno how. Feel a bit sad that it had to come to this. But it's something that I had to do la. It's not right to be in a relationship when your heart's not in it completely.
Anyways. Fuck. I got rejected from Penn. How! What am I going to do with my life now! Sigh. Ok work hard for my scholarship and see how it goes. Will work for scholarship! Hurr.
This wed are we gg out?
